Small and Beautiful

There's no point in beating around the bush.....this blog is blatantly about me trying to persuade you, my reader, that what you would most like to put on your Christmas Wish List - or what you think would be a truly unique and desirable gift for someone near and dear to you - would be a piece of my work.

You would be in good company, I might add. My paintings have often been given as gifts - as anniversary presents, as wedding gifts, for birthdays - and one couple honoured me by buying one as a memento of their honeymoon. Indeed, I have even been commissioned to paint portraits as Christmas gifts for loved ones. But please, don't even think about asking me to do that now for this year's Christmas. It is way too near for me to be able to complete one for you in time.

Having said that, however, I do have plenty of paintings, drawings and lithographs that could be your ideal gift. Obviously, budgets vary hugely, and I am well aware that Christmas is a very expensive season of the year, so may I introduce you, today, some of my smaller and less pricey pieces, and please bear with me if I send you a few more emails over the next couple of weeks with more offerings.

The works I am choosing to share with you are not only small and budget-friendly, they are also small and easily shippable....some not even framed yet, so they would be very suitable for sending in the mail., and I can arrange to organise the shipping for you too, though obviously I will have to add the cost of postage and packaging to the price of the artwork. Payment can be done through Paypal.

Oh, and one more thing.......the days quickly and easily turn to weeks and, before you know it, Christmas will be upon us, so if this is something that you think you would like to do, please make sure you let me know soon, before it is too late for your gift to arrive in time.

If what you see in this email is not the kind of thing you think would be suitable, do browse through my portfolio - https://www.marylynnestadler.com/portfolio - to see what else I can offer you. When you see something that you like, just click on the image and you will be taken to a page where you will find all the details you need - size, price, medium and some background information about each piece. You will find a wide variety of work and a wide range of prices and sizes.

So, here are some suggestions for today, ranging in price from €30 to €225. I also have a presence on Fine Art America, where you can buy art prints of my work, and other small items, very reasonably. Here is the link: https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/mary-lynne-stadler/shop

A cluster of deep orange-pink petals occupy the upper part of the image, hovering above a broken blue background. Two of the petals are surrounded by 'haloes' of the same pink, suggesting the blur of movement. One of a series of postcard-sized mixed media works.inspired by Frangipani blooms.
Rustle of Wind - postcard-sized mixed media work on fine Chinese paper, mounted in a cream-coloured passe-partout, priced at €30 and one of a series of ten similar pieces all inspired by Frangipani flowers.

Small abstract landscape in lime green, cyan, ultramarine. The surface is richly textured, and divided into sections by a series of broken black lines and marks. Oil-based ink on paper. Framed with a white matte mount and narrow black wooden frame.
Hill and Bay - Printmaker's ink on paper, mounted in an off white passe-partout and set in a simple black wooden frame. One of three remaining from a series of four. Framed price €225

Black and white charcoal drawing of a male figure in lotus position, leaning forwards with his hands outstretched and resting on the ground in front of him.
Prayer - Charcoal drawing on paper, unframed 36 x 33 cm. €120. I have several life-drawings available, but they are not on my website yet..

A simple vessel - a beaker of some kind, perhaps a reject off the potter's wheel - it is asymmetrical and looks as though it might tip over at any moment. Loosley drawn. Unique one-colour stone lithograph in a deep burnt sienna on fine Japanese paper, also available as unique lithograph in blue-black.
Empty Vessel - limited edition of three. Stone lithograph on fine Japanese paper, with my 'Chop' to identify it as an original. Measures about 30 x 20 cm. Unframed. €150. Also available as a unique blue-black version

A gnarled tree, with shattered branches rendered in chalk pastel in yellow ochre, yellows, browns, purple and green.
'I've seen some history....'chalk pastel study of an old olive tree that I have been making a long series of work about. This little drawing measures 30 x 20 cm and comes in a white passe-partout 5 cm wide. €100.

Small abstract landscape. A large swathe of greens sweeps diagonally across the main part of the picture plane, from lower left to upper right. A small area of yellow ochre hues occupies the upper left, and a small patch of cobalt blue the lower left. The paint has been applied loosely and creates a textured surface. Oil and charcoal on linen. Framed with a white matte mount and narrow deep umber wooden frame.
Crossroads - semi-abstract landscape in oil on linen, with charcoal line element. Comes in a simple deep umber brown frame about 2 cm wide. Overall size is about 35 x 25 cm I think. One of a series of five paintings. €225

Thank you for taking the time to read this and, I hope, explore my website to see what else I have there.

Until the next time, All the very best, Mary-Lynne
